Taverham Under 13's Match Reports  - April 2009

TAVERHAM v BRESSINGHAM – 19TH APRIL

Our final league game of the season took place at Hinks Meadow, on a bright, sunny day.

We took the game to the opposition straight from the start, looking in control in all areas.  Their keeper thwarted a couple of decent early chances, but we weren’t being troubled defensively.  Will put in a couple of lovely crosses, which we were unlucky not to get on the end of, and Jack G had a couple of shots well saved.  A good half, although no goals.  Half time score 0-0.

Jack L and Tom came on to replace James and Luke.  Goals would surely come if we continued to keep playing our football.  We made another bright start, with Mark looking good going forward, and Jack L doing well in midfield.  Reuben and Will were also linking well up front.  Following a great run and cross by Will, Jack G just failed to make the tap-in at the far post.  He then went close from a header, and it seemed just a matter of time before we broke through.

Despite our great play and total dominance, Oliver made a truly world class save, to stop a certain goal from a great volley.  However, Bressingham scored from the resulting corner, a good header, although not great defending from us.  This galvanised us into action, and we carried on where we left off, playing some attractive football.  Dom was totally dominant at the back, but again we just could not get the goal our play deserved.  Finally, from yet another Will cross, their defender sliced into his own net with Jack and Alex waiting to tap in anyway.  We moved up a gear, and failed to score a couple of times.  Unbelievably 10 minutes from the end, Bressingham scored a scrappy second goal to go 2-1 up.  Following some good play down the left, Luke crossed for Jack G to finish well with his left foot to equalise.  We now needed to just continue playing the way we were to try and get the victory.  Unfortunately, time was against us.  A really good game, and a great display to finish off the season.  Final score 2-2.

MAN OF THE MATCH:- Dominic Pyatt.
