Rockland Youth Match Reports - April 2009
Bulldogs 1 – 4 Brandon
On On a beautiful sunny Sunday morning, Bulldogs entertained league winners Brandon, hoping to extend their excellent run of home victories.
Bulldogs started brightly, taking the game to Brandon with Matty in particular showing excellent pace. Twice Matty tested the Brandon keeper with low drives but he handled well. Bulldogs took the lead when AK finished neatly after being put through by Ashley. Giles made several fine saves as Brandon fought back but had no chance with their equaliser. Both Sam and Jack enjoyed excellent first halves, making good challenges and Giles made an outstanding save, tipping over a scorching goal-bound shot, to keep the scores level.
In the second half the Bulldogs team tired, possibly as a result of playing several games in a short space of time, and Brandon’s passing game and pace began to dominate. Josh enjoyed what was possibly his best performance in a Bulldogs shirt at left-back but could not prevent Brandon from overcoming Bulldogs defence. Brandon scored three second-half goals without reply.
It was an excellent game of football, where both teams did themselves credit.
Ashley was awarded Man of the Match by the Brandon Manager
